Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Philip E. McCrillis:

According to media reports, accusations against Fr. Philip E. McCrillis surfaced in 2004 when two sisters filed a civil lawsuit against Fr. McCrillis, alleging that he had sexually abused them when they were in junior high school at St. Anne’s in San Francisco in the 1960s. Fr. McCrillis was reportedly in a relationship with their mother when the alleged abuse began. The two women received a settlement from the San Francisco Archdiocese, and the San Jose Diocese deemed the allegations to be credible. In 2003, Fr. McCrillis retired, and in 2004 he was removed from active ministry. Fr. McCrillis died in 2007.
