Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Francis Dowd:

Fr. Francis Dowd was a Redemptorist priest. In a 2003 civil lawsuit, Fr. Dowd was accused of sexually abusing a child from 1963 to 1964 at Nelles Correctional Institute in Whittier.

Fr. Dowd was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. Fr. Dowd was born in Chicago and lived there for many years before moving to California. He died in 1982.

Fr. Richard Zumpino, a Redemptorist, was accused of sexual abuse during his time in Harrisburg, PA.  The Diocese of Harrisburg has listed Zumpino on Cases Involving Deceased Clergy For Whom Criminal or Canonical Proceedings Were Not Undertaken or Completed. Zumpino passed away in 1989 before allegations surfaced.
