Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Gary Uhlenkott:

Fr. Gary Uhlenkott, was a priest, ordained in 1980. He was a professor of music at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.

According to media reports, in 2013, Uhlenkott’s apartment was raided by federal agents with a warrant showing that he spent over $1600 over the span of 3 years on child pornography. He was removed from his job at Gonzaga University that year and was sent to Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, California.

In addition, documents say Uhlenkott admitted to receiving/downloading hundreds of child pornographic images of young boys from the Toronto Film Company but said he had never made any actual sexual contact with a minor child.

In February of 2018, Uhlenkott pled guilty to child pornography in the 2nd degree. 

In 2018, Uhlenkott was included on the Jesuits West Province list named as being credibly accused of child sex abuse. It notes allegations reported in 2013 in reference to viewing child pornography. 

In May of 2018, Uhlenkott was sentenced to 6 months in jail. His current whereabouts and whether he has access to children are unknown.

Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Edmund J. Robinson:

Fr. Edmund J. Robinson, was a priest of the Oregon Province, ordained in 1955. He spent most of his career working at Indian Missions in Montana, Washington, and Idaho.

In 2011, Robinson was accused of raping a 5-year-old girl back in 1963 in St. Ignatius Mission, Montana in the Diocese of Helena. According to media reports, at least one of the plaintiffs in the civil suit filed by 10 accusers alleged abuse by Robinson when he was assigned to St. Paul’s Mission in Hays, Montana.

As of 2017, a total of 9 people, both men, and women have come forward with allegations of sexual abuse against Robinson. The abuse took place on Indian reservations in the 1950s and 1960s.

In 2015, Robinson’s name was included on the Diocese of Helena list of its members who have been identified as perpetrators of sexual abuse.

In 2018, Robinson was included on the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings list named as being credibly accused of child sex abuse. 

In 2018, Robinson was also included on the Jesuits West Province list named as being credibly accused of child sex abuse. It notes allegations reported in 2008 in reference to abuse of a minor that took place in 1959-1964, 1963-1965, 1966-1968, 1968-1972. 

Robinson died in 2014.

Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father James E. Poole:

Fr. James E. Poole, was a Jesuit priest of the Oregon Province, ordained in 1953. Poole spent most of his priesthood in Alaska.

Throughout Poole’s career, he has been accused of sexually abusing young girls, beginning in 1948. According to media reports, there are files that show Jesuits knew of his behavioral issues as early as 1960. Poole was removed from KNOM Radio Station which is a radio station he founded back in 1988 in Nome, Alaska.

In 2005, Poole was named in a lawsuit for sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl in 1978 mainly until she was 16 years old, but carried on until 19 years old. Poole was accused of kissing and fondling her dozens of times. He admitted to sexual abuse of a minor and there was a settlement for $1 million the same year.

Moving forward, there were multiple settlements that took place over the years: 2007, 2008, 2011, and 2014.

There were several claims against the Diocese of Fairbanks and the Jesuits. Later in the year of 2005, a victim came forward accusing Poole of sexually abusing her in approximately 1968 when she was 7-years-old. Poole allegedly had her sit on his lap and he proceeded to expose his private area.

In 2010, Poole’s name was included on the Diocese of Fairbanks list of its members who have been identified as perpetrators of sexual abuse.

In 2016, Poole was included on the Archdiocese of Seattle list named as being credibly accused of child sex abuse.

In 2018, Poole was also included on the Jesuits West Province list named as being credibly accused of child sex abuse. It notes allegations reported in 2004-2006 and 2009 in reference to abuse of a minor that took place in 1948-1953, 1956-1957, 1959-1963, 1967-1968, 1970, 1975-1977, 1979-1980. 

In 2003, Poole retired to the Regis Community in Spokane. Poole died in 2018.

Fr. Joseph Obersinner, was a priest of the Oregon Province, ordained in 1957. Obersinner worked in the Diocese of Spokane, Diocese of Helena, Archdiocese of Portland (OR), and the Diocese of Boise.

Obersinner has been accused of sexual abuse of at least one minor. In 2015, Obersinner’s name was included on the Diocese of Helena list of its members who have been identified as perpetrators of sexual abuse.

In 2018, Obersinner was also included on the Jesuits West Province list named as being credibly accused of child sex abuse. Information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims, the nature of the alleged sexual abuse, or Obersinner’s assignments at the time of the alleged abuse is unknown. The year the accusation was reported or when the abuse took place is not listed.

In 2001, Obersinner retired to the Spokane Regis Community in Spokane, Washington until 2015 and then moved to the Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, California until his death.

Obersinner died in 2018.
