Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Stephen Speciale:
Fr. Stephen Speciale was ordained as a Jesuit priest of the California Province. He was accused in a 2004 lawsuit of sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy on the grounds of Our Lady of Sorrows in Santa Barbara, California on at least two different occasions. Another lawsuit with accusations against him in reference to abuse in 1985-1986 was settled in 1993 for $60k.
In 2018, Speciale was included on the Jesuits West Province list named as being credibly accused of child sex abuse. It noted a 1991 report of child sexual abuse. Shepherd was also included in the Los Angeles Archdiocesan Report. Information about the nature of the alleged sexual abuse is unknown.
Speciale was dismissed from the order in 1989. His status as a priest, current whereabouts, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
