Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Thomas F. Guyder:
Father Thomas F. Guyder was among 32 priests in the Diocese of Syracuse who was removed as part of the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People that was established in June 2002.
Father Guyder’s name appeared publicly on the Diocese of Syracuse’s list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors, published in December 2018. It released almost no information on the allegations against each priest, including age/gender of the victims, or the priest’s assignment at the time of the alleged abuse.
Father Guyder retired in 1989 from St. Joseph’s Church in Camillus. The parish center was formally dedicated and named in his honor. His portrait was placed in the foyer. He died in April 2009. Both his name and portrait have since been taken down.
