Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Thomas Ganley:

Father Thomas Ganley was ordained a priest in 1985 and served in the Diocese of Metuchen.  He served in multiple parishes throughout his career. According to media reports, in January 2019 he was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault in the first degree and two counts of sexual assault in the second degree for the sexual abuse of a minor. The office did not reveal the sex of the victim, who was said to be the ages of 14-17 at the time of the abuse.

Ganley was a priest at St. Cecilia’s when the criminal acts allegedly occurred from 1990 through 1994. This arrest is the first criminal case filed by a New Jersey Attorney General task force formed in September 2018 to investigate allegations of clergy abuse.

As of January 2019, Ganley is currently being held and awaiting trial at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center.
