Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Brother Ed Byrom:

Brother Ed Byrom (AKA Byron) was a Franciscan Friar who served in the Diocese of Los Angeles. He was a pre-novitiate candidate for the Province of Santa Barbara Franciscan Friars but left the program in 1988. According to media reports, in 1993, he was accused by at least one individual of child sexual abuse. In 2004, he was named in a civil lawsuit alleging child sexual abuse while he was working at Saint Anthony Seminary in the 1980s. It is believed that Byrom returned to his native country, Ireland. Ed Byrom’s clerical status and whether he has access to children are unknown.

Byrom was included on the Santa Barbara Province Franciscans list in 2019 of clergy who have been credibly accused of sexual abuse to a minor.
