Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father James Robinson:

Father James Robinson was ordained a priest to the Archdiocese of Birmingham, England in 1971. According to media reports, multiple allegations of child sexual abuse were reported in the UK, beginning when Robinson was in seminary. The first complaint was made in 1973. He was transferred suddenly in 1986 to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Some of the boys were as young as 10.

In 1985, a letter was sent from the Archdiocese of Birmingham, requesting that Father Robinson be externed to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The letter stated that their “immediate reason” for his leave was that he had recently met again “a man with whom he had an unwholesome relationship about 13 years ago.” He arrived in California later that year and worked as a priest in five Los Angeles parishes until he was laicized in 1993.

In 2009, Father Robinson was extradited from the United States to England to stand trial for 22 different offenses against six boys. In 2010, the Birmingham Crown Court sentenced him to 21 years in prison. It is believed he is currently incarcerated in England. From the time of his laicization in 1993 to his extradition in 2009, whereabouts are unknown.
