Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Donald Raymond Pousson:
Fr. Donald Raymond Pousson was ordained a priest in 1966, and served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Lafayette. According to media reports, in 2002, he was accused of molesting a boy in the early 1990's. When a reporter questioned the priest about the allegation, he denied it and added that he had received treatment for "alcohol but never sex abuse." Though the accuser alleges that the Diocese of Lafayette knew about the abuse in the mid-1990s, Bishop Edward O'Donnell denied prior knowledge and stated that Fr. Pousson was under investigation for the alleged abuse. It is unclear whether the investigation was ever completed. No criminal charges appear to have been filed.
In 1994, Fr. Pousson was placed on leave and spent several months in an in-patient treatment center in St. Louis, MO. He died in a nursing home in New Iberia, LA in 2013.
