Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Anthony Manuppella:

Father Anthony Manuppella was accused of making unwelcome advances and discussing homosexual lifestyle with seminary student and taking him to gay bars, according to a lawsuit filed against the Diocese of Camden in 1999.

Manuppella denied the allegations.

The lawsuit was ultimately dismissed and argued to the New Jersey Supreme Court, which held that the matter violated the First Amendment’s Free Exercise of Religion Clause.  There was no determination that Manuppella (or any of the other accused priests) was innocent of the allegations made.

Manuppella remains in ministry and is currently the pastor for St Gianna Beretta Molla in Northfield, New Jersey.
