Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Dale Guidry

In January 2019, the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux publicly named Fr. Guidry on its list of priests who admitted to, or were convicted of, sexual misconduct with children after he was arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor in 2009.

The priest pleaded guilty in 2010 and was sentenced to five years in prison. Roughly a year after his conviction, the Amarillo Diocese removed Fr. Dale Guidry from ministry.

Previous Allegations and Leave

Although the Amarillo Diocese removed Fr. Guidry in 2011, church officials within the diocese seemingly placed him on leave nearly a decade before his conviction. According to news reports, Fr. Guidry “took a leave to pre-empt his removal.”

While details about Fr. Guidry’s leave are unknown, sources say he was accused of molesting a minor.
