Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Eamonn Byrne:

Fr. Eamonn Byrne, originally from Ireland, was ordained a priest of the Society of St. Columban. He worked in the Philippines for many years and worked in the United States from 1975 to 1978. He went back to the Philippines in 1978, where he worked at multiple locations until his retirement in 2007.

According to media reports, in 1992, a woman sued the Archdiocese of Chicago, the Society of St. Columban, and Byrne, alleging that Byrne had sexually abused her as a minor while on a church outing in Illinois in 1974. The plaintiff claimed the abuse was reported to his superiors but no action was taken by them.

Byrne’s whereabouts, status as a priest, and whether he had access to children from 2007 until his death in 2015 are unknown.
