Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. G. Matthew Daly:

Fr. G. Matthew Daly was ordained a priest in 1955, who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Erie, and was ultimately elevated to Monsignor. According to media reports, in May 2018, he was one of six priests named publicly as an accused on the Diocese of Erie list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. The Diocese of Erie has said little about the allegation(s) against Daly, including the number of allegations against him. The list noted the first allegation against him was received after his death in 1982.

“Pastoral care and compassion for victims, as well as the protection of children and vulnerable adults, is a top priority of the Diocese of Erie. The diocese encourages anyone who has experienced sexual abuse or misconduct by a member of the clergy or any employee or volunteer of the church to contact law enforcement.”

Daly was not identified in the 2018 grand jury report.
