Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father George Tobin:

Father George Tobin was ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Ogdensburg in 1950. He served in multiple parishes throughout his career. His first assignment was as assistant in Tupper Lake, St. Anthony’s in Watertown, St. John’s in Plattsburgh, St. Bernard’s in Lyon Mountain, St. Joseph’s in Massena and St. Joseph’s in Massena. Fluent in sign language, he was committed to helping the deaf, and was named Director of Apostolate for the Deaf.

According to media reports, in November 2018, his name was included on the the Diocese of Ogdensburg’s list of 28 priests who were credibly accused of sexual misconduct with a minor or a vulnerable adult. The Diocese of Ogdensburg did not include the number of alleged victims or the time frame that the alleged abuse occurred. It noted that he died in August 2010.
