Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Father Gerard Chasse:

According to media reports, in 1994, a civil lawsuit was filed against Father Gerard (Jerry) Chasse alleging that he repeatedly sexually abused a 12-year-old boy from January 1969 to December 1976 at St. Luke’s in Brentwood, New York. The suit was later dismissed because the statute of limitations had expired.

After working in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, Father Chasse moved to Montana in 1977 and served there for three years before being laicized in 1980. He was identified in the 2003 Suffolk County Grand Jury Report as Priest I, which noted details of his abuse of two brothers.

“Among his victims were two brothers. One of the brothers ‘tried to tell another parish priest what was happening to him, but he was ignored.’ According to media reports, later, at his sister’s wedding, the boy put a note asking for help in the collection basket ‘with his name and telephone number…He never heard anything.’”

Father Chasse’s current whereabouts are unknown.
