Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father John Dowling:

Fr. John Dowling had four separate allegations of sexual assault to boys under the age of 14 between the years of 1954-1981. Reports received by the Sacramento Diocese occurred in 1981, 2002, 2004, and 2019, and were deemed credible. Dowling had his faculties withdrawn and was dismissed from the Sacramento Diocese after the first report was received in 1981 that spoke of child pornography, fondling, and touching.

Dowling was included on the Diocese of Sacramento 2019 list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse under the section of priests from other dioceses. He was also included on the Archdiocese of Atlanta 2020 list.

Dowling died in 2000 while still residing in Northern California.
