Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Father John Murphy:

Father John Murphy is a well-known anti-abortion activist who has been arrested multiple times on protesting and trespassing charges. As of 2017, he held the positions of the president, chairman, and treasurer of Save The Babies Foundation. Father Murphy belongs to a religious order that is reportedly not active in New York State. The chancellor of the Diocese of Rockville Centre said that Father Murphy is not a member of the diocese and is not able to ”exercise public ministry in Nassau County. He is also not authorized by Bishop McGann to speak out in the name of the diocese.” John McGann is the bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, which includes Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

According to media reports, in August 2019, a lawsuit filed under the NY Child Victims Act alleged that Father Murphy sexually abused a 10-year-old child for two years from 1963 to 1965. The child was a student at Holy Family in Hicksville, NY, in the Diocese of Rockville Centre.
