Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Joseph J Faraone:

In 2015, Fr. Joseph J Faraone was arrested on charges related to sexually abusing a 50-year-old brain-injured woman who was unable to consent. According to state police, the abuse reportedly occurred on multiple occasions at a Brewster facility for those with cerebral palsy and brain injuries, where Faraone worked. His victim had the mental capacity of a 12-year-old.

The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at the Brewster barracks and the Putnam County District Attorney’s Office charged Faraone with the second-degree criminal sexual act and first-degree sexual abuse, both class D felonies. Faraone was convicted in 2016 and served a one-year jail sentence. In 2017, Faraone was listed as a high-risk registered sex offender on probation and living in Brewster, NY.

Ironically, in 1985, while a priest at St. Patrick’s, Faraone gained publicity after winning $1.17 million in the New York Lotto. He told reporters then he had started buying twice-weekly lottery tickets two years earlier when the parish was struggling to pay for its new, $2 million church.
