Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Kenneth Funk:

Fr. Kenneth Funk was ordained a priest in approximately 1950, and served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Denver. According to media reports, in December 2020, the Attorney General’s Office released a supplemental report of the allegations made in the Colorado Dioceses’ voluntary compensation fund. According to the report, Fr. Funk was one of the newly identified priests who served in the Denver Archdiocese.

Among the allegations documented in the files of the Archdiocese of Denver was one against a priest, Fr. Kenneth Funk. According to the report, Fr. Funk was the subject of a report that he was engaging in ‘grooming’ behavior for 2 years with a teenage altar boy in Holy Name Parish in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. According to the report, Funk sexually abused the victim in 1959 and 1962 when the boy was 13 and 16 years old.

When the report was received through the IRRP in 2020, the Denver Archdiocese reported the abuse to law enforcement, however, they did not independently investigate the report because Fr. Funk was already dead.
