Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Kevin Kelly:

In 2017, a survivor reportedly received a settlement from the Archdiocese of New York’s Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program after he made allegations stating he was sexually abused as a child by Fr. Kevin Kelly. The abuse was said to have occurred over a three-month period while the survivor was in elementary school at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in New York, New York.

In 2019, the survivor filed a lawsuit against the Archdiocese of New York after a new law extended the statute of limitations in New York. According to media reports, the man claimed he was tricked into giving up his rights to further claims in accepting the IRCP settlement.

Kelly is named on the Archdiocese of New York’s 2019 List of Archdiocesan Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor or the Subject of Eligible IRCP Compensation Claims.

According to the Archdiocese of New York, Kelly left the ministry. Kelly’s status as a priest, whereabouts, and whether he had access to children from approximately 1979 until his death is unknown.

Kelly died in 2008.
