Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Marshall Larriviere:

Fr. Marshall Larriviere was ordained a priest in 1963, and served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Lafayette. According to media reports, in 2003, a family filed a lawsuit on behalf of their daughter who alleged that Fr. Larriviere forced her to perform oral sex on him in 1964 when she was eight years old, and later raped her at his camp in Vermillion Parish when she was 13. The alleged assaults took place when the priest was assigned to St. Mary Magdalen in Abbeville, LA. This lawsuit was consolidated with another lawsuit filed by another female who alleges she was also raped at Larriviere’s Vermillion Parish camp. Both cases were settled for an undisclosed amount in September 2008.

In April 2019, Fr. Larriviere was publicly named on the Diocese of Lafayette’s disclosure list of “priests against whom credible allegations have been made regarding sexual abuse of a minor or vulnerable adult.”

He died in Ft. Myers, Florida in 2014.
