Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Michael Lynch:

Originally from Ireland, Fr. Michael Lynch was ordained for the Diocese of Sacramento in 1952 and was an active priest in Chico, California, for 34 years. Lynch retired in 1993 and died that same year. Sexual assault allegations were reported to the Diocese of Sacramento in 2003, ten years after Lynch’s death. According to the reports, Lynch raped a female under the age of 18 in 1965, while he was working at St. John the Baptist in Chico, CA.

According to the Sacramento Bee, in 2005, the Diocese of Sacramento paid $35M to settle 33 claims of sexual abuse by priests. One of the priests listed was Michael Lynch.

Lynch is included on the Diocese of Sacramento list of priests credibly accused of child sexual abuse.
