Summary of Sexual Allegations Against Father Ronald Becker:

In 1989, Fr. Ronald Becker was accused of sexual misconduct and was removed from parish work by the Diocese of Trenton. Since then, the Catholic Diocese of Trenton has paid over $1 million to five former altar boys claiming to be victims of Becker’s abuse. The alleged molestation took place during Becker’s assignment at Incarnation Church in Ewing, New Jersey.

The allegations against Becker claim that during his time at Incarnation Church the priest sexually abused victims between the ages 11 and 16 on church trips and in the Incarnation rectory. According to the victims, the abuse would last roughly six months to four years.

Once removed from parish work, the Diocese of Trenton sent Becker away for treatment at a notorious facility for pedophile priests. Upon his return, church officials assigned Becker to an administrative position evaluating annulment requests at the Diocese headquarters.

According to media reports, Becker’s niece later accused her uncle of sexual assault in 2004. The victim claimed Becker molested her over 100 times between the ages of 5 and 11. During a telephone conversation with the victim, Becker confessed to molesting her since infancy and the police recorded the confession. The alleged assaults occurred in the victim’s home in Jamesburg as Becker babysat for the victim’s parents. She later settled a lawsuit against the Diocese of Trenton.

In response to the allegation, the Diocese of Trenton spokesperson said, “it was a family issue, not a church issue.”

In 2007, Becker was arrested and indicted with second-degree sexual assault for the abuse of his niece but died in 2009 before his criminal case concluded.

In 2019, Becker was included on the Diocese of Trenton list of clergy credibly accused of the sexual abuse of a minor.
