Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Rosario Ouellette:

Fr. Rosario Ouellette was ordained a priest in 1929, who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Portland for 40 years. In 1939, he was appointed as State Director for the Propagation of the Faith. According to media reports, in 2004, the Diocese of Portland reported to the Maine Attorney General’s Office that it had recently received a phone call from a man who alleged Fr. Ouellette sexually abused him in the early 1930’s when he was an altar boy at Sacred Heart in Portland. According to the alleged victim, a middle school student when the abuse began, Fr. Ouellette molested him in the sacristy after mass. The victim also alleged the priest molested him at Camp Gregory, a Catholic boys’ summer camp in Gray, ME. The alleged abuse continued over the course of several years.

Fr. Ouellette retired in 1969 and died in a car accident one month later.
