Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Vincent Brady:

Originally from Ireland, Fr. Vincent Brady came over to work for the Diocese of Sacramento in 1967. In 1999, a woman alleged sexual abuse by Brady when she was in her early teens. The victim claimed that the misconduct occurred in the early 1970s, and she filed the lawsuit in 2000. According to media reports, the case was settled for $350k, and Brady was sent to receive therapy and then reassigned within the diocese. She then filed a new suit claiming defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress after Brady revealed her identity in the suit.

In 2002, another woman alleged abuse as a girl in the 1970’s as well. The allegation was deemed credible, and the suit was settled in 2004. A third woman also sued Brady and the Diocese of Sacramento in 2003 and claimed that she too, was abused as a minor. This woman also stated that it was more than just touching, but Brady also raped her.

Brady had all of his faculties withdrawn in 2002, and officially retired in 2004. His name has been included on the Diocese of Sacramento 2019 list of Clergy Serving in the Diocese of Sacramento Who Have Been Credibly Accused of Sexual Misconduct with Children/Young People. The list also shows reports in 2000 and 2003 of the abuse of other girls in the 1970s.

His current whereabouts since leaving the priesthood are unknown.
