Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. William Maslar:

Fr. William Maslar was ordained a priest in 1956, who served in the Diocese of Allentown. Not much is known about his assignment history. According to media reports, his name was included in the Diocese of Allentown’s August 2018 list of credibly accused priests, but no details about the allegation(s) were provided by the Diocese. The priests on this list were credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor, which disqualifies them from priestly ministry in the Diocese of Allentown. The files for all priests named were provided to the Grand Jury. This list was compiled by the Diocese based upon a review of diocesan files and the Report of the 40th Statewide Investigating Grand Jury. Maslar was not discussed in the August 2018 Grand Jury report.

Notably, the Diocese of Allentown does not state that the allegation(s) against Maslar were received after his death, which is a qualification given for the overwhelming amount of credibly accused deceased priests contained on the list. This suggests the allegation was received prior his retirement/removal in 2002, and he was included in the flurry of priests removed in 2002 following the scandal in the Archdiocese of Boston.

Fr. William Maslar died in 2005.
