Summary of Abuse Allegations against Mister John Hanlon:

According to media reports, in February 2019, a woman alleged in a lawsuit that Mr. John Hanlon, the St. Agnes, parish janitor, sexually abused her as a 5-year-old girl. The alleged abuse occurred in the 1960s at St. Agnes in Rockville Centre. Years later, when she was 11, she and another woman claimed they were fondled in 1967, while being passed around the laps of priests at a Christmas party in the rectory.

“In April 2021 the official committee of abuse survivors in the Diocese’s bankruptcy identified Father Hanlon as a person accused of abuse who has some connection to the  Rockville Centre Diocese.” According to the committee, the people on this list, “…have been accused of committing sexual abuse. These people have served within the territorial limits of the  Diocese of Rockville Centre.  A religious order and/or diocese outside of the Diocese of Rockville Centre found sexual abuse accusations against these people to be credible or sexual abuse lawsuits have been filed against these people.”
