Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Mr. Michael DiFrancisco:

Mr. Michael DiFrancisco was a former lay employee in the Diocese of Erie. According to media reports, in April 2019, the Diocese of Erie announced that it had received an allegation of sexual abuse against him. The Diocese did not release any information about the allegation, such as the age/gender of the victim, the nature of the misconduct alleged, or DiFrancisco’s affiliation with the Diocese of Erie.

The Diocese stated is that its internal review board is conducting an investigation. “These individuals are currently under investigation, and each is presumed innocent unless proved otherwise.”

“The list covers clergy and laypeople who the 13-county diocese said have been credibly accused of child sexual abuse or other inappropriate behavior with minors since the 1940s. The behavior of those on the list disqualifies them — or, in the cases of the deceased, would have disqualified them — from working with children in the diocese,” the diocese said.

DiFrancisco died, but the date of his death is unknown.
