Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Msgr. Joseph Mathis:

Msgr. Joseph Mathis was ordained to the priesthood in 1922, who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Allentown. Not much is known about Mathis’ history in the Diocese of Allentown as there is no publicly available information about any sexual abuse allegations against him. According to media reports, his name appeared on the Diocese of Allentown’s August 2018 list of credibly accused priests. The priests on this list were credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor, which disqualifies them from priestly ministry in the Diocese of Allentown. The files for all priests named were provided to the Grand Jury. This list was compiled by the Diocese based upon a review of diocesan files and the Report of the 40th Statewide Investigating Grand Jury.
