According to media reports, Father Mortimer Melican was ordained in 1951. He left the ministry prior to his death in 2002. According to media reports, in April 2019, his name appeared on the Archdiocese’s of New York’s list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. The claims against him are eligible for the Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program (IRCP).
