Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Robert Gray:

In 2018, Fr. Robert Gray was included on a list of priests in the Diocese of San Jose who was named as being “credibly accused” of child sex abuse.

It is noted that there was a report received in 1993 against Gray in reference to abuse that took place between 1991-1993. At the time, Gray was assigned to St. Justin’s Parish in Santa Clara, California. In addition, in 1993, not only was there an allegation made against Gray, but he was convicted the same year.

According to media reports, Gray was convicted of sexually abusing a teenage boy while teaching him karate in 1993. Gray offered alcoholic beverages, showed him pornography, and fondled the minor. Charges regarding two other boys were dismissed. He was sent to jail for 160 days and given 5 years probation. Gray received psychiatric treatment before he returned to the job in the Diocese in 1995. Gray was permanently banned from ministry since 2002.

As of 2018, Gray’s current whereabouts is located in Sunnyvale, California.
