Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Roger Anderson:

Father Roger Anderson was ordained a a Capuchin priest and served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, he was accused of sexually abusing at least two children from 1981 to 1983 at Old Mission Santa Ines in Solvang, California. According to a lawsuit filed by one of the victims, this victim began attending catechism classes at Ole Mission Santa Ines in 1978, and after that, became an altar boy.

In 1981, when the victim was approximately twelve years old, Fr. Anderson began sexually assaulting him. The assaults took place in, among other locations, Anderson’s office and in the confessional. The victim claims that another priest or brother walked in on an assault taking place on more than one occasion only to turn around and leave.

Fr. Anderson was included in the 2004 Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. He died in 2008. From 1981 to his death, Fr. Anderson’s status as a priest, his whereabouts, and whether he had access to children are unknown.
