Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Father Walter A. Sinnott:
Father Walter A. Sinnott was among five priests in the Diocese of Syracuse who faced credible allegations of abuse, but who died or voluntarily left the priesthood prior to the implementation of the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People that was established in June 2002.
Father Sinnott’s name appeared publicly on the Diocese of Syracuse’s list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors, published in December 2018. It released almost no information on the allegations against each priest, including age/gender of the victims, or the priest’s assignment at the time of the alleged abuse.
He died in July 1965.
